August
+ Bel coming back to live in the cold country
+ Sooooo many shows.
+ Many tv marathons -good shows, including watching Heroes obsessively, and finally paying attention to the Mighty Boosh
++++ The Day At The Zoo - penguins, zebras, snakes, hissing cockroaches, pretty ratties
+ London (-- it had its dodgy moments though aka my arm getting completely fucked - I still need to get it checked out) - Spearmint Rhino, A7X,
+/- LEEDS FEST. Where do I start? How about the seven hour drive that should only have taken 45 minutes. The Suitcase game, the fucked up weather, the mud, the crappy ass attitude and behaviour of festival republic and a select oxfam representative....here's what made up for the shit: the funniest conversations in long car rides and crappy travelodges with Bella, Lizzi and Charlie; MSI in general - drinking and lolzing with crackers and bad references to the PWTs, the bands that we watched ruled at life - esp when frontmen jumped into the crowd and sang from there, or chucked their equipment in.
++++ ALKALINE TRIO - amazing doesnt sum it up, that night was epic...and people who saw that page of Kerrang may remember why a Belski had fun too... :P

September
----- Pam leaving to go to South America
--- Sooty's stroke(s)
++ Shooting lots and lots of bands - Underoath, Envy on the Coast (awh Ryan was adorable, I didn't want to interrupt his subway eating), Gym Class Heroes, Meshuggah (++ First published image!), The Academy Is, The Maine, We The Kings
+++++ My Birthday trip in general. Getting to hang out with all the right friends - Belly, mami, Lizzi, Gemma, Lawra and Tanith. Parties with silly boys in brilliant bands - polaroids that will never see the light of day, birthday cards that win, aftershow meetngreets, dancing at the cockpit ("Ilikeyourmoves"), too many hugs and birthday wishes and all sorts that I just dont deserve...like that one on that drumkit...
-------- Bel leaving on my actual birthday, the tears that came with it making that night in London at the show just so damn hard.
++ Bumping into Nik...it was reassuring to see that he's doing just fine

October
+/- Barcelona - the trip itself was kind of fun. It was awesome hanging out with Voo again, but jeez Artist Arena get your facts right and dont make me waste 200 quid ever again. ME was gorgeous, but A&K would have been cooler. However that hotel room fucking rocked. Shame about the city itself, its so...unfinished. Awesome weather though.
++++/- Germany. The 'angry nation' as one guy in a hat said. FOB in smallish venues, shoutouts. Chicago is so two years ago actually had me in tears in Cologne. Shooting the Berlin show was awesome, as was playing pretend importance. Spending 70 or so Euros on shows they didn't expect us to ay for was a bit of a fail though. As was 'sleeping' in train stations and on trains between cities, and also...the food was a little disappointing.
---- Sooty dying less than an hour before I got home from Germany. This is still...possibly more upsetting than when I heard about someone else I was close to who died earlier in the year. And I'm still not very good at talking about it without bawling. But I still miss my little companion so fucking much. He was really the only thing that kept me sane when I lived in Stirling when Bel wasn't around. It was so awful, but he was so cute and cuddly and...calm. I donno, I feel dumb for being so attached to a pet, but I suppose he was the first proper one I had that was all mine (fish dont exactly count). Gastby is brilliant, but he's not Sootypaws.
+ Hey Chris in Glasgow, the shunning that came from that was freaking hilarious. I adore him.
+++ Glasgow FOB show. Barrier. Totally worth it, best 11 hours ever queued. But I wouldn't do it again. Martin, AJ and Peet crushing me was so not cool - and I hate y'all.
+/- Wembley. I have mixed feelings about that day. And about the way some people behaved. But whatever its done. It was great to properly hang with Lizzi at a FOB show, I'd never gotten to before.
++++ The not-so-secret-secret-show. Kevin from Kerrang being amazing, our hero at Crush still trying to be a hero. Folie a dude. References no-one else got. (- the lack of a barrier was not cool), the most intimate show they've played in the UK since...2005. Sitting on the stage during Saturday. Tanith bopping Patrick in the face with his mic. Missouri. Bear ears.

November
+/- Getting to the point where I am becoming double booked for shows. The pro of this is that I guess I'm almost in demand. The drawback is that shooting three shows in one night is just not possible - but that's what mums are for - she shoots the gigs I cant, which is kind of awesome.
+++ GRADUATING. This was great because it was all finally over. I can put the silly letters BA after my name; the only trouble is people might think that means something...
------- The Lambinator leaving work. Misses.
+ Meeting the cutest little puppy ever. aka Dexter.
++++++++++ TIM EFFIN MINCHIN. The funniest show I have ever seen in my entire life. I've never laughed so much, nor cried with happiness for two solid hours. It was brilliance, and unexpectedly meeting him after was really just the icing on the cake.

December
+/- Its funny how pathetically quiet December ALWAYS is when I make these journals. But honestly slowest month of the year by miles. I worked five days a week (instead of three), and had to do some truly awful shifts - which was made worse by being absurdly sick for much of the month with a stupid cold. But some pluses definately came from it, I met some awesome new people, and made a lot of overtime money.
+ Christmas - really that's only a plus because its out of the way for another year. And c'mon the food was...excellent. As were the cocktails mami and I consumed at Le Monde...nom, nom.
+ Srsly though...December is just the month used for planning the following ones - which currently include plans for 10 alkaline trio shows, one gig at the MEN, a trip to Florida, a NJ festival...the intention of maybe getting either a new camera or a new desktop pc (or better a Mac! so that macoy the laptop has a buddy), and more hamsters! Maybe Australia? well, I guess there's a lot of people to talk to, and some plans maybe have to be made...
